Make the first step tiny

You do not have to “finish the whole worksheet” right now. Try “open the worksheet” or “read the first question”.

Use a small timer

A five-minute start can help make an intimidating task less intimidating. You can choose to continue after it ends.

Try a different way in

If writing feels hard, first say the answer out loud. If revision feels boring, quiz yourself. Choose the method that gets you moving.

Move one thing, not everything

When your afternoon runs late, keep the closest deadline in sight. Move something flexible instead of giving up on the whole plan.

Getting help counts

If you are genuinely stuck or upset, ask for clarification from a parent, teacher or another trusted adult. A planning app does not replace real support.

Notice what helped

After the task, ask: was the hardest part starting, staying with it or understanding it? Try one adjustment next time.

Try it this week

For the next tricky task, write “First up: ____” and make the blank an action that takes less than two minutes.
